About the Opportunity
Pushor Mitchell LLP is looking for two full-time Legal Assistants based in Kelowna, BC.
Reporting to the Supervising Lawyer, these roles are responsible for providing comprehensive legal and administrative support within the litigation team. You will work closely with one or two lawyers, including partners, as well as seasoned paralegals. These roles are integral to supporting file management, complex documentation, court procedures, and client communications in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining a strong and up-to-date understanding of procedural law within the litigation specialty
- Drafting, preparing, and generating complex legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence
- Preparing, organizing, and filing court documents, including e-filings
- Gathering information and conducting research relating to litigation matters
- Managing files, client information, and internal organizational systems
- Coordinating communications with clients, opposing counsel, agents, and other stakeholders
- Tracking and recording billable time on files
- Originating work from standard precedents and ensuring documentation accuracy
- Resolving issues related to legal procedures and court requirements
- Staying proactive with changes in legislation, rules, limitation dates, and court processes
- Supporting billing processes and file opening/closing activities
- Mentoring and supporting team members as needed
About You
To qualify, you will ideally bring completion of a Paralegal course, along with working knowledge of litigation procedures and documentation requirements. Three or more years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably within Litigation, will be considered a strong asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required, and experience using a document management system will be highly valued.
